Piccolo Uve: Hi, Perberos. Is "Perberos" your nickname? What does it mean? What's your real name? And what are you doing in a real life?

Perberos: Perberos is my artist name. A friend once started to call me that. It's a fusion of "Kerberos" and "Peru". My real name is German Perugorria and I am a 27-year-old scripter.

You are one of the Project Managers of UGamela - A Web Base Strategic Multi Player Game. What was the beginning of it?

I've started the project on the 26 June 2006, UGamela was born when my another project called Razorbacks Online died. And no, it's not an emule server... With the little knowledge I had, I slowly built UGamela. As we all know, it's a clone of OGame. But I've never thought it would grow so much...

You programmed UGamela in Delphi and used Firebird. Why exactly this? Why not anything else?

Oh, UGamela is made only in PHP and mySQL. I found some obstacles in PHP language. But my decision about the proper language to write in can change during time. UGamela was and will be aimed at small groups of those players who love to entertain themselves on their universes with university or cybernetic friends.

On the SourceFroge service I've found out that Ugamela has 9 developers. Who are they and what have they done in Ugamela project?

Some of those people contributed in the translation of the game. In fact, there are many more people who also contributed to the UGamela Project - even in the present community.

UGamela isn't the only project you work on. What's ShiNavi?

Oh, that means "Shi Navigator". There exists a software made in Flash and Perl that allows to paint-chat. It's called Shiiwebnote, and is very well known in Japan. I wanted to make a client with the possibility to add a few servers without overloading the WebBrowser.

SourceFroge also says, that you are one of the UGame's Developers. But you're not the Project Manager of it. I've found out that UGame is some kind of new OGame with more options. Can you tell me something more about it?

UGame is a game discovered in November 2006. It was promised to be more realistic with more factors and possibilities. I joined it to learn to develop in team. But it's still been 'alpha' and died. The Leader is called Alrik.

Ramiro Aparacio Gallardo - FoxGame Project Owner told me: "I received a couple of mails asking a port of FoxGame for Ugamela, but I told them to make it on his own" and "FoxGame is under MPL so they could do almost everything with the code". Do you think about making a port of FoxGame for Ugamela?

I prefer all the tools to be available for everybody. And not everybody use Mozilla Firefox. This is why I attempt to add all its functions to UGamela so that it works with all the explorers. However I am not always successful, so that some innovating ideas have been taken off.

In Poland we have Net-War and New-Game - two different games based on the same 0.2r13 version of your code. What do you know about it? Are you in contact with them?

I had an opportunity to speak a little with the developers of New-Game. They were very amiable when contacting me. I suppose the games are different because they based on an incomplete code and each one's profit is reflected in its present version. The same happens to my code - it's different from everything else.

If not, why Ugamela looks like OGame in many ways?

Because it's a clone. OGame is 7 years old and formed a culture with itself. OGamers are familiarized with her GUI.

Leonard of Quirm is a pastiche of Leonardo da Vinci in the Discworld novels. He is a brilliant engineer, but his genius doesn't quite extend to names. Don't you think that UGamela and OGame are exactly brillant ideas with unsuccessful names?

... he? I am not a programmer or an engineer. I am only a simple mortal who let himself to be taken by his dreams. But I've always felt limited by the lack of the material. This is why I decided to make my dreams come true in the virtual world - as is the Internet. I have seen many things in the game which could be improved - as well as have many that approach UGamela - and I give them the possibility to also create reality. Nevertheless this is too much for one person. This is why lately my health issues are becoming more and more serious... I am sorry about that.

Have you ever played OGame?

Yes, I have. I was banned to play on the Japanese servers becuase I was not Japanese. With my experience as a player in that game, I began to create UGamela.

On Userscripts I've found many scripts made by you. Many of them are stuffs for GameForge games like OGame, BiteFight or Vendetta. Why have you made those?

They was created to develop my abilities in Javascript.

We've heard some rumour about hacking the Spanish OGame. Many people think that Ugamela is based on the stolen code.

I am not a hacker. Even though I wear a bandana on my head. It is very easy to say that UGamela is a stolen code, the source code (OGame code) of which is not even known. The opponents always do things like this. And nothing can be done. But I would like to know that the creator (or creators) of OGame thinks. I'd call myself a dreamer who dared recreate the world called OGame.

Thanks for the interview.
